HELLAS

Hellenic Scuba Diving

Strategically located in the southeastern Europe in a maximum 3 hour flight from most European cities, Hellas is one of the newest destinations in the scuba diving family and this is so, for very good reasons:  Diving – until 2006 – was significantly restricted, by government and archaeological authorities, so as to protect the rich heritage that still lies down there. Now that the regulation has eased, the country, with its long experience and infrastructure  in tourism and its related services, is determined to put itself in the international scuba diving map.

  • 2000 already existing dive sites – thousands to be exploited . unexploited Hellenic dive sites in

over 200 diving centers

  • 3.000 Islands – 240 of them  inhabited
  • 13,676 km of  coastline, the 11th coastline in the world

A great number of  living species in the Hellenic waters, including dolphins, the monk seal Monachus monachus, one of the rarest species on the planet, Caretta-Caretta sea turtle and sperm whales are only a few of the inhabitants of the Hellenic Archipelagos

Whether it is about the sheer pleasure of discovering walls, wrecks, caverns and reef under crystal clear

waters, calm sea and the notorious Mediterranean weather, or it’s about a secret hope that this time, diving might  just turn into an archaeological adventure, Hellas is the new place, for your next scuba diving experience.

After all, the Hellenes have had a long loving relationship with the sea that continues today with the same passion: sponge hunting, sinking enemy ships, bringing up valuables from the trading vessels that were hit by the weather, you name it, but there have always been  good reasons for the  Hellenes to “jump in the water” and give birth to some of the most creative forms and myths  in  the history of the  Arts .
