The Bristol Type 156 Beaufighter, often referred to as simply the Beau, was a British long-range heavy fighter modification of the Bristol Airplane Company’s earlier Beaufort torpedo bomber design. The name Beaufighter is a portmanteau of Beaufort and fighter.
